And the Reviews are In: Dean Andal’s Fundraising "Tanks" ... "Insufficient" ... "Disappointing" ... "Unimpressive" ... "Anemic"

When national Republicans recruited Stockton developer and longtime politico Dean Andal to take on Rep. Jerry McNerney in California’s 11th congressional district, they couldn’t have envisioned headlines like this: "Andal’s fundraising tanks"; "Dean Andal’s Anemic Fundraising"; "Insufficient Funds?".

Unfortunately for the Republicans, that’s exactly what they’re seeing after Andal reported collecting a paltry $11,234 during the latest fundraising reporting period, between April 1 and May 14, 2008, a "disappointing haul" to say the least. In comparison, McNerney raised $148,783 during the same period.

Andal’s miserable showing hasn’t gone unnoticed. Hank Shaw from the Stockton Record points out: "Consider that Andal is not likely to get much help from the national party, which is in financial trouble and is scrambling to hold three dozen GOP seats that are in peril; Andal's campaign will live and die off his own efforts."

The Oakland Tribune’s Josh Richman notes: "...with the 'every man for himself' tone that seems to sounding from GOP leaders inside the Beltway, Andal’s already starting with a branding handicap and might not get as much support as he’d hoped from national party apparatuses."
