November DFALink-up Report & More

This month's meeting mirrored what's happening in households all over our state and region--putting away the memories of summer and getting ready for a winter that's going to require additional expense.

So, we passed out envelopes for sending in contributions to Democracy for America both to support the on-going functions in Burlington and to make it possible to support progressive candidates all around the country, as those of us who are already signed up to contribute were reminded by Charles Chamberlain the other day:

Although our group isn't ready to make an endorsement in the U.S. Senate race, we recognize that having a choice in the primary is important and passed out contibution forms for Dr. Jay Buckey, who visited with us last month. Members who had an opportunity to attend an event last week in Keene, when both Jeanne Shaheen and Jay Buckey spoke about their interest in replacing Senator Sununu in the Senate, were particularly impressed by Buckey's positions on some important issues.

We also heard reports about John Edwards' visit to the Stone Church in Newmarket and the Holloway Commons at UNH, where an over-flow crowd of students was accommodated by opening several additional rooms. Although I was able to attend two presidential campaign events in Manchester and Durham on the 3rd, there hasn't been time to write up a report. So, it seems fair to include the Dodd campaign persepctive here:
