We Came, We Saw, We Handed Out Flag Pins
by David Dayen [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
OK, so I should mention the results of our Courage Campaign protest yesterday at the ABC/Disney headquarters. It went really well. Consider that I had this idea sitting on my couch at 12:00pm Thursday, and by 4:00pm Friday we had 60 or 70 people out there in Burbank. Considering that in the current age there's almost an allergy to protest, that's not bad (especially in gridlocked L.A.), and we were able to get the word out without making one phone call.
I'll give you the AP's impression (over):

We're marching on ABC/Disney in Burbank today - armed with flag pins!
by David Dayen [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
OK, so everyone's frustrated with the content-free, brainless ABC News debate the other night. Chuck Todd actually gets it wrong - it's not about rabid Obama partisans rising up to hammer ABC, it's about thinking people rising up and deciding not to accept the thin gruel the media tries to feed us anymore.
The moderators are unrepentant and congenitally wired to not get it. So we're going to have to take to the streets - the mean streets of Burbank, California. We want to know if ABC/Disney executives can pass the Gibson/Stephanopoulos flag pin litmus test - it's obviously the most important issue facing the nation, so are they sufficiently patriotic? If not, we're willing to help them out.

Word from the Future: ABC News Destroys All Credibility
by Bob Brigham [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
All reports indicate that when the ABC News Democratic Party Debate airs in the Pacific Time zone at 8 PM that you are better off doing pretty much anything other than watching it. There are reviews are already in and there seems to be a clear consensus on Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos and ABC News and the parent company Disney.
"Looking around other sites, I guess I'm not the only one that thought this debate was unmitigated travesty," Josh Marshall noted. "Maybe the embargo on debate rebroadcast was a pro-human rights stand."
"The debate is over, and I feel like I need a shower. [...] The crowd here is starting to boo Gibson. Like, a lot. Hilarious and well-deserved."
-Chris Bowers
"No Charlie. It hasn't been a "fascinating debate." It's been genuinely awful."
-Josh Marshall
"What matters to this network is money, and that is where we need to go. Starting tomorrow, my spare time, meager as it is, will be dedicated to revealing the advertisers of this network, for the purpose of organized boycotts."

McCain: "No New Taxes"

McCain Changes His Taxes Position Again, Back On The ‘No New Taxes’ Talking Points
Think Progress has video at the link above: Here's a bit of it:
In February, ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos asked Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) if he was a “‘read my lips’ candidate” who believed in “no new taxes, no matter what?” “No new taxes,” responded McCain.
But McCain soon changed his position. Two week after telling Stephanopoulos that he would not support new taxes under any circumstances, McCain backed away from his pledge in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, claiming that he wouldn’t make a firm commitment to not raise taxes:

Dick Cheney Has No Soul
by DFA Staff [courtesy of Blog for America]
On this sad day, as we mark the grim milestone of 4,000 dead US soldiers in Iraq, Vice President Dick Cheney reminds us, once again, of how little feeling he has for those who know the true meaning of service. In an interview with ABC News, the Vice President was asked about the sacrifices made by US service members:
"The president carries the biggest burden, obviously," Cheney said. "He's the one who has to make the decision to commit young Americans, but we are fortunate to have a group of men and women, the all-volunteer force, who voluntarily put on the uniform and go in harm's way for the rest of us."
Really, Mr. Cheney? "The president carries the biggest burden"? Not the "men and women, the all-volunteer force, who voluntarily put on the uniform and go in harm's way for the rest of us."? Not the young child who never met her father before he was blown up by an IED? Not the husband who will never get to see his wife again because she was killed in the line of duty? Not the parent who has to suffer the ultimate tragedy of having their child die before they do?
