Josh Lyman Talking Dirty (Tricks)
by Julia Rosen [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
Bradley Whitford, the actor who played Josh Lyman on the beloved show "The West Wing"" is riled up about the dirty tricks initiative. Rick Jacobs asked him to film a video for Courage Campaign.
Brad sat down and wrote his own heartfelt script and they filmed it in his house surrounded by all of his children's toys. As Brad says: "I don't know about you, but my children cannot afford another Republican president."
Watch the video and check out the new official No Dirty Tricks website. Oh and join the conference call with Brad, Rick, Jane Hamsher (Firedoglake), John Amato (Crooks and Liars) and Ben Tulchin (pollster) at 4 pm today. They will be answering questions from those on the call and a few submitted ahead of time.
You can support the campaign, and our ability to create these videos and hold these conference calls by contributing via ActBlue.

Doh! Arnold won't "read or lead" on dirty tricks
by Julia Rosen [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
Arnold has had plenty of opportunities to read the dirty tricks initiative. After all, I did drop off 2,148 copies of it last friday. And we did fax him to make sure he acknowledged receiving them. When Arnold repeated again yesterday that he hadn't read it, it created the perfect opportunity to make this video. Matt Ortega and I stayed up late working on last night.
Take action. Tell Arnold to Lead AND Read.
And if you want to reward good production hit the ActBlue. And I am still looking for the last $180 or so on paying off the Kinkos bill.
The Courage Campaign email is below the fold.

CA 42: It's Do or Die - My Push to Win June 3rd Primary
by Ron Shepston for Congress [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
Honestly, I can't do this without you.
From the beginning, this campaign has been about the netroots taking the next step to becoming the mainstream. You've been fantastic, but we need more if we are to win the primary. If we implement the plan below we will win and set the stage to win in November. We need to make a lot of noise and talk to a lot of people. Not enough people know about us and even fewer understand why we are doing this.
Without the money, there is no campaign - so I'm not going to beat around the bush. We need money; we need it now. We need your help. If you believe in candidates emerging from the netroots, like I know you do, then please contribute.

Darcy Burner in L.A., 4/9
by Dante Atkins (hekebolos) [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
One of my favorite Congressional Candidates--Darcy Burner, running for the second time in WA-08--will be in Los Angeles for several events on April 9th, including a fundraiser priced for netroots and grassroots activists.
The event will be hosted by Courage Campaign head Rick Jacobs, and it's just $25 to meet a wonderful candidate ($100 for host committee). Darcy Burner is a co-author of the Responsible Plan to End the War in Iraq, and a strong voice on FISA, telecom immunity and net neutrality.
To RSVP and for further information, just go to the event's ActBlue page. Also, if you're on Facebook, here's our event page. Go spread the word!

It's baaaack
by Julia Rosen [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
(full disclosure: I'm working for Courage Campaign)
While Giuliani's minions scramble around gathering signatures (holler in the comments if you have seen signature gatherers), Courage Campaign is ramping up again to beat the dirty trick initiative AGAIN. We had pivoted on to Blackwater and are now waging two big battles at once: making sure the Republicans don't steal the White House and keeping Blackwater from opening a mercenary training base in Potrero.
These battles take resources and by that I mean money. We are dedicated to running a new style campaign, for and by the netroots. Where these guys are getting million dollar checks from big funders, we are running hard on ActBlue. We have set a goal of 1,000 contributions on ActBlue all time for No Dirty Tricks. We knew it would be a reach. We started the day at 619 donors and we are now at 820 donors. Can you help us reach our goal? You can contribute via the Calitics ActBlue page.
Below the fold is the email we sent to Courage Campaign members today. On Halloween we will have a surprise from Courage friend and dirty trick foe Bradley Whitford.

Northern California Nominations for 2008 Calitics Endorsements
by Brian Leubitz [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
So, here we are again. The ActBlue Page is wiped clean (save the Calitics PACs), and we are picking new candidates in our new process. Once we get the nominations, we'll do a conference call to talk about what we would like to ask the potential endorsees.
So, for now, we're looking for Northern California candidates for the CA Legislature in 2008 or Congress. Let's say the cut-off is 5PM on Wednesday. Post your nominations in the comments.

Vote to Condemn MoveOn Splits California's DC Democrats in Half
by Bob Brigham [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
I'm guessing that at tonight's Calitics' Actblue Celebrations there will be a lot of discussion about the votes to condemn MoveOn. The CA delegation split 50-50 in the senate and 16 yea and 17 nay in the house -- wedged successfully by the GOP in half. After the flip is the scorecard.
