Prominent higher education officials are speaking outagainst Governor Schwarzenegger’s proposed 10% budget cuts to the UCand CSU systems, reports the LA Times. According to Cal StateChancellor Charles Reed, they could set the system back ten years.

Calitics agrees, noting that the Campaign for College Opportunity predicts that the slack would have to be picked up by massive fee increase s. And that doesn’t figure in the cost of declining enrollment in higher education on the economy.

Remember the Stern Review on global warming? You know, the report thatsaid the economic cost of not acting on global warming would faroutweigh the cost of doing something about it.
