50 State Roundup

by Brian Leubitz [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]

Thanks once again to the good folks at BlueNC for putting this together. Check the roundup over the flip
Rick Renzi's under indictment, Sue Myrick gets caught with her fingers in the cookie jar - possibly legally, Patrick McHenry has questions surrounding just about everything he does, John Shadegg can't make up his mind. How many more Republicans will get caught up in legal or ethical controversies prior to November? One way to stay on top of this is to follow along with the state blogs. We're discussing our congress critters and their shenanigans long before it hits the national scene. Stop by. Check us out. You too can be the first to know. Here's your roundup for the week:

New Mexico
Republican Senate candidate Steve Pearce says legalizing same sex marriage will lead to legalized pedophilia. Classy.

California
The California Yachting association wants you to call the California Republican Party and thank them for not taxing your yachts!

Is your Congressman on this List? They all should be

by Brian Leubitz [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]

Here's a list of some CA Congress Critters:

Rep. Lynn Woolsey (CA); Rep. Barbara Lee (CA); Rep. Maxine Waters (CA); Rep. Ellen Tauscher (CA); Rep. Diane Watson (CA); Rep. Bob Filner (CA); Rep. Hilda Solis (CA); Rep. Michael Honda (CA); Rep. Grace Flores Napolitano (CA); Rep. Linda Sanchez (CA); Rep. Pete Stark (CA); Rep. Lois Capps (CA)

What is this list? It's a list of the California delegation that has signed on to the following statement:

We are writing to inform you that we will only support appropriating additional funds for U.S. military operations in Iraq during Fiscal Year 2008 and beyond for the protection and safe redeployment of all our troops out of Iraq before you leave office.

George Miller gets it

by Brian Leubitz [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]

Well, George Miller gets many things.  That much can be seen through his stellar 93.52 score on Progressive Punch, but I'm specifically referring to his Internet game.

George Miller has a facebook account, but that's fairly common. Rep. Miller also has a Facebook Group. Ok, that's cooler, but still not unique.  But how many other Congress critters have their own Facebook app? Well, your answer would be 0. Toss in his cool "Ask George" website on the House server, and you have the Congressional leader in internet advocacy.

Rep. Miller gets the importance of the internet and two-way communication.  His Ask George Group specifically asks for questions and comments on issues that concern constituents, and netroots folks.

So, how cool would this be for, say, the governor? Or, wait, maybe George Miller could be our governor!  How sweet would that be.  I might need to start up a draft George Miller for 2010 right now. Summary of links over the flip...
