Calitics Show: Julie Bornstein
by Brian Leubitz [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
Another exciting Calitics Show this week. We'll be talking live to Julie Bornstein, Democratic nominee for CA-45. CA-45 is a Congressional District that we have a real shot at. Despite being only the 194th Most Republican District at R+3, it is currently listed by Cook as a solid Republican Seat. I'll note that Cook also rated Pombo as a solid Republican seat around this time two years ago. Bornstein, a former Assembly member, is a solid candidate with the possibility to shock a few people come November.
The show's live at 3:30 today. You can catch it live or archived at the Calitics Show homepage or grab the podcast at iTunes. If you'd like to call in live, shoot me an email with your phone number and I'll send you the call-in #.

The Culture of Activism in Iowa
[courtesy of Blog for America]
DFA-endorsed candidate Ed Fallon, who is running to unseat Bush-Democrat Leonard Boswell in Iowa's 3rd Congressional District, was today endorsed by Iowa's largest paper, The Des Moines Register. This is a great development and speaks volumes of the dynamic, people-powered campaign that Ed Fallon is running. From the endorsement:
After interviewing both candidates and reviewing their records, the editorial board can no longer embrace the congressman as the best person to represent Iowa in Congress. Fallon is running under the slogan "new energy for Iowa." On June 3, Democrats in the 3rd District should give Fallon a chance to unleash some of his ideas and energy in Washington.
Check out the full endorsement at the Des Moines Register.

GO VOTE! Choose Delegates for Denver
by Bob Brigham [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
Today is the day to choose the delegates for this year's DNC Convention in Denver. Since the Clinton team refuses to acknowledge the math, it could be the first convention floor fight in a generation so choose well. Here's what you need to know:
- Get there early, registration is from 2PM - 3PM followed by the caucuses. So get there early (I'm aiming for 1:45).
- Find out your caucus location. It is by congressional district. Obama sites - Clinton sites
- Check out the candidate list. There are a ton of candidates with many running like actual campaigns and such.
- Any other questions? Check out the FAQ
And let us know how things worked. I'm predicting record turnout with logistical problems because of record interest. Speaking of which, bring your friends!
P.S. You MUST be in line by 3PM to vote. Did I mention to get there early?

SF Bloggers Show United Front (Font?) - Be Sure To Vote Today!
by SweetMelissa [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
Constant Readers,
It has been a banner few days for Congressional District 12 candidate Jackie Speier in blogland. And it's all just in time for today's special election. Aside from my sycophantic posts about meeting Jackie and staging a protest because I can't vote in the D12 election, there were two enthusiastic posts by Greg Dewar, the author of both the NJudah Chronicles and Disinformation Rehab. Greg actually lives in Jackie's district, lucky dog!
Greg reminds us all that his district will go unrepresented for several more months unless Jackie gets 50%+1 of of the votes cast today.
Robert Solis gave a message that everyone should be out voting in full force since special elections tend to have a low voter turnout.

Record Interest in Delegate Races
[courtesy of The California Majority Report]
With the deadline for filing for delegate slots ending last night, there's been a record number of California Democrats signing up to run for the coveted slots.
More than 2,500 applications were received by the California Democratic Party for 241 slots. In 2004, about 1,200 competed.
Here's a story I'm featured in on Sacramento's News10. In my Sacramento area Congressional district, 39 Democrats filed for the Obama delegates and 21 filed for Hillary.

Richard Lara for Congress
by Richard Lara [courtesy of Blog for America]
The Following is an email exchange Between Richard Lara, candidate for Congress in the 46th Congressional District, and Rich Gilloch, Debbie Cook Supporter.------------------------------------Hi Rich,Thank you for your email. I hope that all is well with you.Yes, I am a candidate in the 46th congressional district. I think that you are right when you say that we should clear the way for the first credible candidate in 20 years, so why don't you ask Debbie Cook to drop out of the race. I am in the race for the 46th CD because I have no confidence in any of the other candidates in the race. So even if I did drop out, I would be disinclined to support Debbie Cook?Furthermore, Debbie is not the one who should have a problem with me entering the race. A number of months ago, I asked her if she planned on running for Congress in the 46th. She said that she had looked at the numbers and, being a realist, she decided that there was no way she could win and thus no way she would run. Now she wants to run. If anything, I should be complaining about her indecision. But the fact is that my supporters and I do not mind if she stays in the race because we believe that it will become clear in the primary that she is not our best candidate.
