McNerney meeting with Clinton today
by Dante Atkins (hekebolos) [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
Jerry McNerney is among the superdelegates who are meeting with Hillary Clinton today.
According to this DailyKos diary, the Congressman's office is keeping track of who calls and what they have to say, so if you're a California blogger--especially one who helped McNerney--feel free to make your opinion known (whatever that opinion is).
Here's the number:
925-833-0643
Now that there are more undecided superdelegates than pledged delegates, I guess that calling Congressional offices is now more important than calling voters...

Petition Delivery to Congressman Wexler
by Louise Friedman [courtesy of Blog for America]
The Congressman will be speaking at Century Village, Hillsboro Rd.,Deerfiled Beach. I think we should have a DFA presence in attendance as we deliver the Super Delegates petition. He was not available in his office on the Big Day but his assistant recommended, since he would not be back in his office for over a week, that we hand deliver it personally.
Anyone who has buttons, signs, whatever, please bring them along.
Don't miss this opportunity = no doubt there will be press coverage and it would be great advertising for DFA.

John Doolittle to Fight Subpoena: Creates Constitutional Showdown
by Julia Rosen [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
Doolittle is refusing to turn over 11 years worth of documents to the FBI, which were recently subpoenaed, as part of the ongoing probe into Jack Abramoff. This will set up a constitutional crisis over the ability of the Executive Branch to request documents from the Legislative Branch. Yes, this was an issue with the raid on William Jefferson's office last year. AP (over at TPM). h/t to jeremybloom
Prosecutors recently demanded documents from Doolittle and five staffers, the congressman said. The subpoenas seek "virtually every record including legislative records" for the past 11 years, Doolittle's attorney David Barger said in a news release issued Thursday by the congressman's office.
There is more from Doolittle's lawyer below the fold. The AP story does not have any quotes from Justice. I look forward to hearing constitutional experts weigh in on this case. At the very least, it seems like Doolittle has something to hide, or else why defy the subpoena?

Darrell Issa Loves Veterans at Home, Fails Them in Washington
by Lucas O'Connor [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
At the end of August, Congressman Darrell Issa came to San Diego to discuss the Navy Broadway Complex development in the downtown harbor area. While he was in town, he sat down for an interview with Navy Compass discussing broad themes of military and foreign relations. NavyCompass does a great job with the questions, keeping them relevant to their content but ranging across a wide range of relevant issues. He hits all the well-known pro-military talking points that Republicans love to throw around in public, but in the process draws a sharp distinction between talking the talk and walking the walk. So how does Congressman Issa's voting history match up with his glowing words about supporting veterans and soldiers? Let's find out.

CA-04: But wait there's more bad news for Doolittle
by Brian Leubitz [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
In what is shaping up to be one of a number of slow-moving investigations into Congressmembers, John Doolittle got some action-packed days this week. Dave told you about the subpoenas yesterday, but today there is word of testimony.
Alisha Perkins, who has worked for six years as the congressman's scheduler, testified before the grand jury Wednesday morning, said the congressman's press aide, Gordon Hinkle.
