Kicking-off his 2008 re-election campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives, Progressive Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich of Ohio delivered an impassioned speech on Friday, January 25, 2008 in his hometown of Cleveland.  Note: His courageous speech will make tears of great joy well up in your eyes.

Progressives Being Attacked in the Primary

by Ilya Sheyman [courtesy of Blog for America]

(This post represents my own personal views).

These past few days have witnessed attacks on the top three progressives from the DFA pulse poll. While these are unrelated incidents, they all represent attacks in some form on the progressive movement we are all building. Regardless of which candidate you support, or would like voters to Unite around, we must stand up in each case to build our movement.

Dennis Kucinich

Rep. Kucinich was excluded from yesterday's Democratic debate in Iowa. This because he did not meet the technical need of having an office in Iowa. Check out The Hill for their story about this.

Kucinich, who is running his second consecutive presidential campaign but is doing poorly in national polls, has received strong support in online surveys from liberal groups such as Democracy for America. The Ohio lawmaker’s anti-war campaign resonates with parts of the Democratic base even though that support has not boosted Kucinich from the lower tier of candidates.

Rep. Kucinich reaches out to you

by Sheri Divers [courtesy of Blog for America]

Democracy for America members have been keeping the pressure up on the candidates for President. Starting with a primary petition in January demanding a strong Iraq plan and then again in April calling for action on the climate crisis, many of the democratic candidates have been responding directly to you.

Today, I'm excited to bring you two great responses from Representative Dennis Kucinich:

First, Representative Kucinich details his comprehensive plan to fight climate change. Kucinich wants "to make everything in this country about energy conservation" including international policy and trade agreements.

In the second video, Congressman Kucinich hits hard on Iraq: "I voted 100% of the time against funding this war, because I understood that – you fund this war – you reauthorize it all over again."

Locked Out of the Convention

by blogswarm [courtesy of Calitics: Soapblox California - Front Page]

So I wandered out on the patio for a moment of outdoors time. When I tried to get back into the convention center, I found myself locked out. But there was a Democrat who realized my situation from a good 40 feet away and stopped his conversation and came over to the door to let me back in. He said, "I'm the candidate who opens doors." Thank you Congressman Kucinich.
