Debbie Wasserman Schultz' Lukewarm Support of Three South Florida Democrats Has Progressives Steaming Mad

by Simon Rose [courtesy of Blog for America]

Please sign the petition (include your Congressional District number) to let Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz know how you feel about her unwillingness to support South Florida candidates for US House.

South Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (US-20) has repeatedly said that she cannot publicly support the three Democratic candidates who are running to unseat some of the worst Bush Republicans in the US House of Representatives: Mario Diaz-Balart, Lincoln Diaz-Balart, and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.

For once there appears to be a glimmer of hope as three very viable candidates, Joe Garcia, Annette Taddeo, and Raul Martinez, have announced their campaigns to break the stranglehold that the South Florida Republicans have had for years.

What is especially galling to many mainstream Democrats who not only live in Wasserman-Schultz' Congressional District, but Democrats across the country, is that the Congresswoman holds the powerful and prestigious postion of Co-Chair of the DCCC "Red to Blue" campaign to take back House seats.

Show Debbie Wasserman-Schultz What Loyalty Truly Means

by Simon Rose [courtesy of Blog for America]

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has publicly acknowledged her allegiance to Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, and Mario and Lincoln Diaz-Balart by saying that these three Bush rubber-stampers are fine people whom she will not oppose in their campaigns for re-election. This flies in the face of her loyalty oath to support her party and her position with the DCCC as co-chair of "Red to Blue".

For once, South Florida has three viable and progressive candidates, Joe Garcia, Raul Martinez, and Annette Taddeo, who are running against these Bush cronies who have voted in lockstep to keep the occupation of Iraq indefinitely and against the SCHIP program to insure our most vulnerable Americans: our children.

Debbie has scheduled a town hall meeting in Broward. It is taking place Thursday, March 20th at 7:00 pm at the

Pine Island Park Multipurpose Center

Come and let Debbie know what loyalty really means.

The Honorable Tim Ryan
The Honorable Debbie Wasserman Schultz
The Honorable Christopher Murphy
United States House of Representatives

Regards: Energy Bill Surrender

Dear Representatives Ryan, Wasserman Schultz, and Murphy:

It was a great pleasure to view the exchanges among the three of you on the House floor
during C-SPAN coverage one evening last June.  A discerning listener might detect partisanship and scripting in your remarks.  That's fine with me.  Having tuned in to the opposing partisans' radio jockeys during their 24-hour domination of talk radio over the public's airwaves, I found myself wishing that same audience and medium would devote equal time to the intellectually stimulating, well reasoned, arguments that each of you made in turn.

The central theme that I followed in your arguments was the case that what Congress does matters.
It makes a difference in:
how well the majority of our citizens can make a living,
whether, or not, we are able to engage in "the pursuit of happiness" that is our birthright,
and whether, or not, our children and grandchildren will live better or worse than those of us responsible for today's decisions.
