Yolo United - Organized and Ready to Take on the Republican Machine!

by tgypsy_jcs [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]

This past Thursday evening, nearly 100 Democratic activists got together to kick off the Yolo County Democratic Central Committee's 2008 Campaign - Yolo United! With the primary season over, we are now uniting to make sure that all of our energy is focused on getting Democrats elected to every seat that represents Yolo County.

We were fortunate to have three of Yolo County's delegates to the Democratic Convention with us, all of them ready to join together to make sure that we elect Democrats to every local, state, and Federal position on the ballot.

Don Gibson (Clinton delegate), Martha Beetley (Obama delegate), and Ryan Loney (Obama delegate) will be representing us in Denver in August.

Join me below the fold to learn more about the Yolo United Campaign.

Note: I am a volunteer with the Yolo United Campaign.

CDP Chair Torres on Sunday's Delegate Races

[courtesy of The California Majority Report]

With the state's DNC delegate selection process reaching record levels of attendance, you had to know a statement from CDP Chair Art Torres was coming. Here it is:

"Since I became Chair of our great Party in 1996, I have never seen such an incredible outpouring of Democratic activists at congressional district-level delegate selection caucuses. More than 23,000 Democrats showed up Sunday afternoon to support more than 2,500 candidates vying for 241 slots.

We should be proud of California Democrats for recognizing what is at stake for our state, our nation and our world in this Presidential election.

Not everyone can attend the Democratic National Convention this year, but everyone can participate from now until Election Day on November 4, 2008 to help elect a Democratic President.

The Flip Side Of Tom McKeyes' Carpetbagging

It's interesting, to say the least, that on the same day Tom McClintock packed up the station wagon and left Ventura County, we also find out that Democrats have taken the registration advantage in that same county.

In the parlance of 21st century politics, Ventura County has turned blue.

As of Monday, registered Democrats became the majority voting group in the county, surpassing Republican registration for the first time since Ronald Reagan was in the White House.

The latest numbers: 150,066 Democrats and 149,627 Republicans.

"Everybody's on cloud nine," said Laura Winchester of Thousand Oaks, vice chairwoman of the county Democratic Central Committee. "From the standpoint of momentum, this is a huge blow to Republicans."

I know a lot of these Ventura County Democratic activists, and they worked their asses off to reach this point.  Ventura is the beginning of a wide-ranging red-to-blue program to recapture more than the coastal and urban regions of the state.  McClintock left Ventura County because he was termed out.  But he didn't exactly have a safe haven anymore in Thousand Oaks, either.

This bodes very well for SD-19 and Hannah-Beth Jackson.  Now if we had a solid candidate in CA-24...

Take Back our Country in 2008 -- 25 People at a Time!

[courtesy of The California Majority Report]

Let me cut to the chase.

We know that the most effective way to get our Democratic message out to the voters in this critically important election year is by friends talking to friends, neighbors talking to neighbors.

Our Party Chairman Art Torres has said, "I am proud of the work of our Democratic activists across the state and I know we've laid the foundation for even greater Democratic victories in 2008, including delivering California to our Democratic candidate for President."

That's why the California Democratic Party is proud to be joining with Gov. Howard Dean and the DNC to implement the Neighborhood Leader program in California.

And that's why we're asking you to step up and become a Neighborhood Leader.

This year each Neighborhood Leader will be talking to 25 friends and neighbors about our Democratic candidates and the vital need for change in 2008. It's just that simple.

Please join our Neighborhood Leader program today and make the commitment that you will talk to 25 voters three times between now and November 4. We'll provide you with all the materials and information that you need.
