ACTION ALERT: Support Joe Garcia, Defeat a Republican Extremist

by DFA Staff [courtesy of Blog for America]

DFA-Endorsed candidate Joe Garcia (http://www.dfalink.com/campaign.php?id=2699) is running for Congress against Republican reactionary Mario Diaz-Balart in South Florida. Joe is running a people-powered campaign and has really engaged local DFA members.

Up on the Miami Herald blog is a video made by a volunteer for the Garcia campaign:

Go over to the Miami Herald blog and fill up the comments with words of support for Joe Garcia. Mario Diaz-Balart has never had a serious challenger and, with your help, we can put Joe Garcia over the top.

Democratic Convention bound!

by William Monroe [courtesy of Blog for America]

There are a LOT of DFA Delegates and Alternates headed to Denver this August. Lets get together as a DFA caucus of some kind...or at least have a party some morning... to celebrate our history and our affiliation with DFA. To that end I have created a National DFAlink site.

Howard Dean's inspiration and DFA's training and support is certainly responsible for my increased political involement in the last 5 years. There are many with similar stories.

Lets Celebrate!

DFALink-up Report--February, already!

by Monica Smith [courtesy of Blog for America]

Looking for a BIG snow-storm to hit New Hampshire, like it did in 1978, most of our members stayed home and the three of us who met up at Gepetto's in Newmarket made a lot of decisions on our own. That's what happens when people don't show up.

Yes, I know that's unfair. At least a half dozen of us are up in Concord much of the week, trying to wrangle new laws through the Legislature--like H.B 186 that Bob Perry and other worked on to get us regular random audits of ballots that don't depend on some candidate making a nuissance of himself. Maybe after more people see the documentary, "Uncounted" (find a location where it is showing near you here-- http://dfalink.com/search_uncounted.php) getting our electoral processes right will have a higher priority.

While I'm at it, our newest member, Paul ONeil, has offered to host a houseparty featuring the movie next week. Sign up here and send an RSVP --http://dfalink.com/venue.php?id=20113 if you're in the Stratham, NH area.

Unite for a Progressive President

by E J Zipprich [courtesy of Blog for America]

Well, our true progressive voice has step aside. Sadly, John Edwards lost out to the media. The media has chosen Hillary & Obama. There are your choices against McCain and Romney, the media's other darlings.

This is a greater reason for you to attend Wednesday's DFALink meeting. What do we do now? Talk to other progressives about the two choices left in the race and determine who is the more progressive candidate. Let's throw our support into our congressional and local races since both remaining presidential campaigns are well funded & organized.

Monmouth for Democracy will meet at Racioppi's Kitchen 107 Oakland Street, Red Bank, NJ.

Ed Hughes will moderate the discussion starting at 6:30. Please "chip-in" for Food & drink at about 12 bucks!

We've elected a Democratic majority in Congress. We've protested, and we've marched. We've written letters, sent emails, and made phone calls. Yet -- we are still in Iraq.

What now? What can we as individuals do to get us OUT of Iraq and to prevent immoral events like this from happening in the first place? This important question will be the topic of this forum.
