Bill HR1955 The Violent Radicalization and Home-Grown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007

by Yvonne McQuade [courtesy of Blog for America]

Bill HR1955 passed with 404 of our Democrates and Republicans in House of Representatives in our House recently and is on its way to the Senate.

This bill represents the worst of this administrations assults on our Constitution and Bill of Rights and, so far, besides hearing about this on American One Television Broadcast at 3am in the morning, I've not heard about this from any other source, including DFA.

This bill actually defines thought crimes as home-grown terrorism. This bill also considers the following domestic acts of terrorism: anybody who talks about the Bill of Rights or the Constitution in public or in print, or anyone who even mentions the right to bear arms, or talks about freedom of speech, or anyone who seeks to advance any religious, political or social change will now be considered a domestic terrorist!

This HR1955 bill has already cleared the House and is slated to be voted on in the Senate. This bill is aimed at the Citizens of the USA, not people from other countries. It is supposed to go into effect bt 2008. How about it DFA??? Can you throw your weight behind this on and stop the vote? I sure hope so or I will wonder about your intentions. I see no other matter more important than our very freedom.

Racist hatred

Nooses were found on the Cal State Fullerton campus this week. Attached to a display decrying intolerance.
Campus police are investigating the incident but they're not referring to it as a crime. There does not appear to be much information about who placed the nooses.

Campus police say they are investigating last week's incident as a "somewhat offensive" act but not a crime.

"It's a freedom of speech area and it wasn't directed toward any particular group," said campus police Lt. Fred Molina. "But we want to find who's doing this and why."

"A somewhat offensive act." Wow. I don't even know where to begin with that. There are a few things that could have made it more offensive. But putting at least 4 (from the picture accompanying the article) nooses in front of an exhibit promoting tolerance is extremely offensive.
According to the article, this is the third such act across college campuses this year alone.

The campus community held a rally denouncing racism and intolerance on Wednesday.

AP: Gravel out of Oct. 30 DNC debate

by Elizabeth Cable [courtesy of Blog for America]

According to an Associated Press Article, former Democratic Senator
from Alaska, Mike Gravel, is being excluded from yet another debate
(big surprise). It is the October 30th debate in Philadelphia, co-
sponsored by the Democratic National Committee and MSNBC. It is
essential, in a Democracy, for all voices to be heard. We should
continue to attempt to adhere to this Democratic ideal, so please
contact the DNC and MSNBC today about Mike Gravel's exclusion. And,
please, spread the word about this. Even people who are not Mike
Gravel supporters might help get Gravel re-invited to the debate, if
they value freedom of speech and fairness. Links to contacts, my
petition, and a live chat on this subject are listed below.
