Republicans in the Senate have a plan to eliminate the $700 milliondeficit in the state budget and turn it into a $300 million surplus,reports the Sac Bee. Unfortunately, it’s also a plan to eliminate funding for welfare and public transportation.Also suspiciously under attack are plans for a new Labor UnionInstitute at UCLA, and the CA Attorney General’s plans to sue thefederal EPA over greenhouse gas regulations.

It looks like the GOP is also seeking to undermine the California Environmental Quality Actin the state budget negotiations, by threatening to undermine thebudget negotiations themselves unless this gets through, warns theCalifornia Progress Report.
