Democratic Convention bound!
by William Monroe [courtesy of Blog for America]
There are a LOT of DFA Delegates and Alternates headed to Denver this August. Lets get together as a DFA caucus of some kind...or at least have a party some morning... to celebrate our history and our affiliation with DFA. To that end I have created a National DFAlink site.
Howard Dean's inspiration and DFA's training and support is certainly responsible for my increased political involement in the last 5 years. There are many with similar stories.
Lets Celebrate!

Turn out for the Democratic Platform and Delegate meetings on the 28th!
by William Monroe [courtesy of Blog for America]
All over the State, County Democratic Meetings are being help on Feb 28th. It is vitally important to show up at these meetings and get involved in the party thru the platform process and by becoming delegates to the District and Sate Conventions.
Here is the list of meeting sites and contact information for every County:
http://www.missouridemsDemocratic Mer.org/2008DelegateSelection/caucuslocations.asp
It is VERY mportant to come to these meetings representing your Presidential pick and to become Delegates on his/her behalf..
The State Convention is really fun. DFA Missouri should, I think, have an info/sign up table as we did four years ago. (More on that latter) I have asked the Convention planner if Gov Dean will be there. (Terry McCauliffe as DNC Chair was at the 04 Convention. ) I will post the yea or nay on that as soon as I learn something.
Remember...the Party belongs to those who show up!
Fired up...ready to go! (To the meeting on the 28th!)

Barack Obama the last of the DFA endorsed Progressives in tight Missouri race.
by William Monroe [courtesy of Blog for America]
Before the Iowa Primaries, Democracy For America polled its membership and came up with the vast majority of votes split between Dennis Kucinich, John Edwards and Barack Obama. Now that John and Dennis have withdrawn from this presidential run, it seems obvious to me that DFA should officially endorse Senator Obama.
Senator Obama has been conducting a wonderful campaign and has drawn endorsements from a broad range of organizations and people. Everyone from Susan Eisenhower, the President's grand daughter (and lifelong Republican) to MoveOn.org have endorsed Barack. This broad appeal and great organization is reflective of how he would bring people together to truly transform our Government. This is what is needed to bring Health care to all, effectivly address Global Warming and poverty, and bring peace to Iraq and the Middle east.
Thus far there is no word of an official DFA endorsement, but should you feel moved to get involved in the campaign, here is the Missouri Obama website:

And looking for some very beautiful inspiration?
The "Yes We Can" video is an example of the grassroots efforts that have helped propel Obama to his Delegate lead:

Feb 5th Actions
by William Monroe [courtesy of Blog for America]
The Primary brings a lot of action toward restoring our Country. I do hope everyone has gotten Primary Day (at least) off from work./school. Here is some of whats up:
The Boone County Dems are wanting poll watchers at each polling place to check off who votes Dem/Rep. This is an excellent way to easily identify Democrats, or those independent enough to take a Democratic Ballot. There is a deadline to get signed up to do this ...so contact folks right away.
Please contact Vicki at:
875-1245
...to volunteer for a shift.
Already over 50 hare signed up, but we need more. In Callaway County, we are also working on Poll watching. Email: elbimon@gmail.com
And...
Chris Kelly would like folks to pass out fliers at polling places in his district. See this DFAlink event for details and contact info:
http://dfalink.com/event.php?id=27143
A lot of folks will be busy working for their respective presidential Candidates...but isf you have some time to jhelp with these endeavor=s, it will be good for the Party in the long run.

"Local Residents Revive Democracy"
by William Monroe [courtesy of Blog for America]
That is the headline accompanying photos of our own Sharon Pasley and yours truly in the Fulton Sun, a very conservative local paper in Mid Missouri. We were canvassing for Barack Obama but the story focuses on the importance of citizen involvement in our Democracy. We were using the tools learned at DFA trainings. Here is the article:

Thank you Dean brothers for your inspiration and the determnation to conduct a 50 State Strategy, and to Matt and Arshad for the great training you conducted here last Spring. For those who missed it, the training is coming to Kansas City on June 14th and 15th:
