Doh! Arnold won't "read or lead" on dirty tricks
by Julia Rosen [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
Arnold has had plenty of opportunities to read the dirty tricks initiative. After all, I did drop off 2,148 copies of it last friday. And we did fax him to make sure he acknowledged receiving them. When Arnold repeated again yesterday that he hadn't read it, it created the perfect opportunity to make this video. Matt Ortega and I stayed up late working on last night.
Take action. Tell Arnold to Lead AND Read.
And if you want to reward good production hit the ActBlue. And I am still looking for the last $180 or so on paying off the Kinkos bill.
The Courage Campaign email is below the fold.

What will you do to stop the Republican theft of the White House?
by Julia Rosen [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
Courage Campaign has been working hard to beat back the dirty trick initiative. We have been collecting thousands of pledges to defeat it and sent 2,148 copies of the initiative directly to Arnold's office. We have a ton of other great ideas up our sleeves, but we need your support to put it into action.
Below is the email we just sent out to Courage Campaign members, including a video ask from Rick Jacobs.

Send an email to an executive on one of your favorite shows. I sent one to my favorite new show Life. I love me a good cop drama, especially one with Sarah Shahi in it.
And if you are on Facebook, don't forget to join the 1,000,000 fans strong for striking writers. I hear word that there will be some fun actions coming up soon.

Courage Campaign Keeps Up the Pressure
[courtesy of The California Majority Report]
Fresh off its crusade to censure Senator Dianne Feinstein, the Courage Campaign appears to be keeping up the pressure on the California Democratic Party. Here's the email:
You changed the conversation. Now it's time to change the Democratic Party.
Two weeks ago, we asked you what to do about Senator Dianne Feinstein's troubling pattern of failing us on civil liberties and civil rights. You told us to support grassroots action within the party process.
And that's exactly what we did, starting last Tuesday.
Five days of non-stop online and offline activism. 34,466 people signing on and spreading the word. 40 Democratic Clubs and progressive organizations organizing virtually overnight to try to pass the resolution to censure the Senator.
Your actions helped the Courage Campaign, MoveOn, and Progressive Democrats of America begin the process of holding Sen. Feinstein accountable for her pivotal Judiciary Committee votes to confirm Judges Michael Mukasey and Leslie Southwick -- and her potential future vote to give immunity to telecom companies for warrantless wiretapping.
There's more...

A Message From Bob Mulholland
by Brian Leubitz [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
So, as long as we are in the Bob Mulholland phase, here's an email that he sent to at least one activist, Michael Jay, who is featured in the Courage Campaign video regarding the Guardian story about DiFi. So without ado, over the flip you'll find that email.

CA-12: A 3-way race?
by Brian Leubitz [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
The Capitol Alert AM Email raises an interesting point:
If Speier does jump in, that may open the door for a third candidate -- Sen. Leland Yee, who replaced her in the Senate. All three represent San Francisco's South Bay and, unlike Lantos or Speier, it's the middle of the election cycle for Yee, who wouldn't have to risk his own seat to run.
But there is another issue lurking in the back here: Will Leland Yee run if Jackie runs. A three-way race would likely favor Lantos, but that's hardly clear. Here's the thing for Yee, if he doesn't run and then Jackie wins, the seat is out of play for another 20 years. If Lantos wins, then he can run in an open seat whenever Lantos retires. While it's not totally clear how he would affect the race, I think it's almost a no-brainer for Yee if Speier enters.
Yee has been something of an enigma in the City. On the Board of Supervisors, he represented a heavily Chinese district, which, for the City, is/was fairly conservative. In the Assembly he was known primarily for going after video games. He has come up with some interesting legislation, but isn't particularly loved by some of the major clubs in the City. However, the power of the Chinese vote would assure him a decent result if he ran.
This could be a wild ride folks.
