Save Money on Your Energy Bills
by RepGeorgeMiller [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]

We need to do a lot more to lower energy costs, and combat global warming. Congress just passed a bill that will lower costs in the long run by making major investments in clean energy technology, and create thousands of green jobs. But there are things we can do right now to save money.
I've made a list of 5 things people can do to save money on energy bills. But I know there are things people are doing to save money that I'm not aware of. What are you doing to save money on your energy bills? Tell me your best ideas, and I'll share them with the country in a speech from the House floor.

Spaghetti or Pancakes? Jackie Speier offers you a choice this Sunday
by Brian Leubitz [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
Former state Sen. Jackie Speier offers you a choice of pancakes (Sunday morning, South SF) or spaghetti (Sunday night, Burlingame). The pancake event is free, but the spaghetti will cost you $10. Find out more or RSVP here.
As for me, I'm a pancake fan. Expect to see me lining up for a big ol' stack Sunday morning. Also, speaking of CA-12, Jackie's election is Tuesday. She needs 50%+1 to get her seat in Congress. If you live in the district, make sure you show up and vote so the district gets representation ASAP.

I'm reading about how congress is going to cave and grant immunity to the telecom's
by Charles Harker [courtesy of Blog for America]
If so, would somebody PLEASE tell me how these people can continue to get away with betraying us and the country?..If it happens it would be another example of how congress has completely abandoned what they were put in power to do.

Richard Lara for Congress
by Richard Lara [courtesy of Blog for America]
The Following is an email exchange Between Richard Lara, candidate for Congress in the 46th Congressional District, and Rich Gilloch, Debbie Cook Supporter.------------------------------------Hi Rich,Thank you for your email. I hope that all is well with you.Yes, I am a candidate in the 46th congressional district. I think that you are right when you say that we should clear the way for the first credible candidate in 20 years, so why don't you ask Debbie Cook to drop out of the race. I am in the race for the 46th CD because I have no confidence in any of the other candidates in the race. So even if I did drop out, I would be disinclined to support Debbie Cook?Furthermore, Debbie is not the one who should have a problem with me entering the race. A number of months ago, I asked her if she planned on running for Congress in the 46th. She said that she had looked at the numbers and, being a realist, she decided that there was no way she could win and thus no way she would run. Now she wants to run. If anything, I should be complaining about her indecision. But the fact is that my supporters and I do not mind if she stays in the race because we believe that it will become clear in the primary that she is not our best candidate.

Schwarzenegger's Flip Flop on Redistricting Likely to Attract GOP Opposition
[courtesy of The California Majority Report]
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision today to spearhead Common Cause's redistricting that excludes Congress won't make him any friends with Republicans in Washington, D.C. or Sacramento.
Yes, the same Governor Schwarzengger who told the Sacramento Bee on February 18, 2005:
"Behind closed doors on Capitol Hill, Schwarzenegger was vigorously questioned on his redistricting plan in a meeting with the state's 20 House Republicans, some of whom are worried about their own re-elections if their districts are redrawn by an independent panel to make them more competitive.
But Schwarzenegger said he will not entertain the thought of exempting congressional districts from the remapping. "It's non-negotiable," the governor said."
Congressman Kevin McCarthy, probably the most active redistricting proponent, has said he opposes any proposal that excludes Congress.
There's more...
