Al Gore Presents at TED Talks 2008
by Linda*in*SFNM [courtesy of Blog for America]
In a return visit to TED Talks this year, Al Gore gave what is a FIRST of a new Slide Show and presentation of the latest information on the front of Climate Change caused by Global Warming.
Bittersweet. This man is so incredible. Mind, passion, intelligence. I'm thrilled of his work and efforts, but ache to my soul that we lose by focusing on the inconsequential and petty, not strive and be thrilled with the possibility of greatness that embodies Al Gore.
We all can still learn and act. Have a listen to Al.

Al Gore's Week's News Round Up
by Linda*in*SFNM [courtesy of Blog for America]
Al Gore has been quite busy this past week. Many have been asking for him and wondering what he's been doing, so I thought I would share some of what I have learned.
The week started out with two new videos being uploaded to Current.com
It actually took many days before it went viral and now one of the videos has become all the buzz.
I guess we could call these Rights. The first video, no doubt in honor of the anniversary of Roe V Wade, titled "Who Makes the Decision", reaffirming his position that a woman should choose her medical decisions, including on abortion. And as important it is now days to reaffirm that right and position, it was the 2nd video that thrilled everyone, with Mr. Gore's passion and detailed reasoning for why he believes that "Gay Men and Women should have the same rightsL" and endorses marriage. I couldn't agree more. And having a politician, especially of Mr. Gore's standing, advocate for same sex marriage was a breath of fresh air.

Al Gore Has Endorsed Gay Marriage
by [courtesy of Blog for America]
Former Vice President of the United States (and true victor in 2000) Al Gore continues to amaze me! Wow! He just released a strong video statement in favor of gay marriage.
This past Monday’s debate has been criticized as focusing too much on personality and not enough on issues. I tend to agree and Senator Edwards (for whom I proudly voted last week) deserves credit for driving the dialog back toward substance.
Despite his efforts, though, an issue which has received inadequate attention is gay marriage.
Problem solved! Former Vice President Al Gore has endorsed it!
As you will see in the video below, Mr. Gore’s position is clear and I share it.
The reason I was among the first congressional candidates to receive the national endorsement of Progressive Democrats of America earlier this month is my full and complete support for all 7 tenets of the Progressive Agenda. One of them calls for an end to discrimination of every kind.

Al Gore IS Tennessean Of The Year-NO DOUBT
by Linda*in*SFNM [courtesy of Blog for America]
Mr. Gore has been honored by the very newspaper he worked for 5 years upon his return from Vietnam as a Reporter, along with his wife Tipper who did some photography, as Tennessean Of The Year. An honor Mr. Gore is truly deserving of, and much more.
'07 accolades spotlight world-altering vision
"It's been an interesting year."
The understatement last week came from a man accused by his raucous critics of everything but understatement.

Will the grassroots shift consciousness and create the tippiing point to solve the climate crisis?
by Linda*in*SFNM [courtesy of Blog for America]
What will it take to look in to the future and act before it's too late?
“Al Gore is the kind of leader these times require. Not as President — God and the Electoral College have given him a different job. As it happens, Al is at work repositioning his country from the inside out as a leader in clean energy; and along the way restoring faith in the U.S. as a moral powerhouse that can lead a great, global spiritual revival as the temperature rises.”
“For Al, 2008 is a rendezvous with destiny and an appointment with the enemy. The foe he sees is our own indifference to the future and a lack of faith in our ability to do anything about it. He stresses that through crisis we can find opportunity. His language is pretty Biblical, but, then, doesn't the Bible say something about floods? He is like an Old Testament prophet amped up with PowerPoint and an army of the world's scientists at his disposal. The right response to the global-warming crisis, he explains, will be a mosaic of solutions that will kick off a whole new economic boom, one that is low-carbon and high-productivity, with truly sustainable development, and an atlas for planet management — using not New Age technology but old age wisdom generating sustainable solutions.”

Al Gore: Leave a blank spot for the US and go around to make progress

Al Gore electrified the Bali Summit when he spoke to the delegation of 187 countries at the Bali Climate Summit on Thursday.

Al Gore's oratory electrifies Bali summit
Thursday, 13 December , 2007, 20:05
Bali: In a speech likely to go down in history as an oratorical milestone in the fight against global warming, Al Gore, former US vice-president and co-winner of this year's Nobel Peace Prize, electrified the December 3-14 UN conference on climate change on its penultimate evening on Thursday.
Clearly speaking from his heart, Gore exhorted the nearly 11,000 delegates from 187 countries gathered here for the summit to bypass the US government delegation that is threatening to derail the entire Bali roadmap to start global negotiations that will help fight global warming.
Pointing out that climate change was already here, that it was no longer a matter that would affect future generations but was affecting the present one, Gore quoted the famous lines from the Nazi era: "First they came for the Jews and I did not do anything; then they came for the gypsies and I did not do anything; then they came for the neighbours and I did not do anything; when they came for me there was nobody to do anything for me."

A political gridlock is in the works for California in 2008, predicts the Sacramento Bee.Between elections, term limit reform, and a $10 billion budget deficit, expect little work to be done on big-issue legislation in the comingyear.
Al Gore has received his Nobel Peace Prize today and urged the US and China tomake bold moves on climate change. "We must quickly mobilize ourcivilization with the urgency and resolve that has previously been seenonly when nations mobilized for war," said Gore. Be sure to watch thespittle fly on Fox News this week.
Victims of the law of unintended consequences, hundreds of Hollywood production workers marched yesterday to urge an end to the Writer's Guild strike."Although these so-called below-the-line workers are not part of thenegotiations, most are out of work until the strike is over andproductions begin again."
