And the Winners Are: First Round of DFA-Democracy for New Mexico Endorsements

The voting ended late last week and the votes are counted. Members of the Albuquerque DFA-Democracy for New Mexico Meetup group were polled on the candidates they wanted the group to officially endorse in a number of this year's Dem primary races. They included the NM-01 race for U.S. House, three State Senate races and one State House contest. Here are the results and responses from some of the winners:

Grassroots activists can help win the war on terror

Without question the US has the best military and the finest soldiers but what our misguided president does not realize is that these wars he so loves cannot be won with bombs and bullets, to truly win these wars we need something of which he is unfamiliar. We need people who truly believe in our principles, in equality and that democracy is best. That's where we come in, we are the ones who fight to keep and change and improve this system, As good as it is, it can always be better

endorse Democracy / stop super delegates

After McGovern and the anti war convention choosing him lost in the general election, the Democratic Party decided to have Super-delegates so the Party, not the people ,could control future surges by anti-war delegates. The Democratic Party must ban super delegates if they want to represent the people, and not the special interests. Is this what Democracy looks like ? Super-size Democracy, not war.

After a discussion of Super-Tuesday and where we want to spend our energies in behalf of the Democratic contenders, a straw poll was taken and the majority is willing to take the following actions on behalf of Barack Obama. (NOTE: Some were still not ready to make a commitment, but we had a large majority (90%) in favor of Obama.)

Will Casinos and Caucuses Mix-it-up?

In Las Vegas today, around noontime, a judge will decide if the caucus rules put in place last year will stand or fall. If they stand, thousands of Union workers on the strip will have a chance to caucus; if they fall, we will have seen the first clear proof that the Clinton's change the rules to fit the circumstances - that they're more interested in winning a caucus than defending democracy.
