Pasadena DFA - 5th Anniversary of the War Vigil
by Patrick Briggs [courtesy of Blog for America]
Pasadena DFA worked with the national Moveon.org rallies to create an event to mark the 5th Year Anniversary of the Start of the Iraq War yesterday evening. The event was successful beyond our expectations!
Almost all the Pasadena DFA Steering Committee members were present! We attracted a few new members and some regulars. Altogether, we had 120 plus Pasadena neighbors show up. Some of those neighbors came from as far away as La Puente and downtown Los Angeles.
Hats off to Maddie Gavel-Briggs for doing a great job coordinating with the local press. We got our main paper, the Pasadena Star News to run a story on our vigil front page! We also got about a minute of TV coverage on channel 4 - KNBC! Here's a link to the newspaper coverage (wish they had gotten our group's name right):

For a different approach to our rally, commuters saw a Burma-Shave style signage before even getting to our intersection.

Barack Obama the last of the DFA endorsed Progressives in tight Missouri race.
by William Monroe [courtesy of Blog for America]
Before the Iowa Primaries, Democracy For America polled its membership and came up with the vast majority of votes split between Dennis Kucinich, John Edwards and Barack Obama. Now that John and Dennis have withdrawn from this presidential run, it seems obvious to me that DFA should officially endorse Senator Obama.
Senator Obama has been conducting a wonderful campaign and has drawn endorsements from a broad range of organizations and people. Everyone from Susan Eisenhower, the President's grand daughter (and lifelong Republican) to MoveOn.org have endorsed Barack. This broad appeal and great organization is reflective of how he would bring people together to truly transform our Government. This is what is needed to bring Health care to all, effectivly address Global Warming and poverty, and bring peace to Iraq and the Middle east.
Thus far there is no word of an official DFA endorsement, but should you feel moved to get involved in the campaign, here is the Missouri Obama website:

The "Yes We Can" video is an example of the grassroots efforts that have helped propel Obama to his Delegate lead:

Barack Obama Endorsed by LA Times, SEIU & MoveOn.org
by Denise [courtesy of Blog for America]
Following is news from the Obama for America team in California. This was a big day for Barack, coming on the heels of a great debate last night. Tomorrow the final GOTV push fires up. For those of you who are interested, the Obama Riverside Field Office is holding a rally in the morning, followed by canvassing all day.
Great news! The Obama campaign has received some big endorsements in California that we need YOU to spread the word about...
The L.A. Times, the third most widely distributed paper in the nation, has endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for President. Click on the link below to read the endorsement and forward/post that on to all your friends:

We're really adding some organizational strength in the final critical days of the campaign. The California chapter of the Service Employees International Union (650,000 members) has endorsed Barack Obama today. If you know of friends or family that are part of the union, please thank them and ask them to actively get out the vote with you this weekend.

E minus-6: Scheduling and Super Tuesday Watch Party
by David Dayen [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
I should probably fold this into what Brian wrote above, but just a little housekeeping and what's in store for tomorrow, in what should be a very entertaining day in the Golden State. I'll be at this Barack Obama event tomorrow:
Los Angeles Town Hall Meeting
Los Angeles Trade Technical College
400 West Washington Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90015
Doors Open: 8:30 AM
And from there, I'll be heading to the Kodak Theater for the first Clinton/Obama, mano-a-mano debate, at 5pm local time. I'll be trying to grab as many interviews beforehand and will be inside the "spin room" afterwards (I prefer "lying den," but I'm old-fashioned).
Then, Friday morning, Ted Kennedy will be out in LA stumping for Barack. I should be able to make that one as well.
But what I really wanted to let you know about is our Drinking Liberally Tsunami Tuesday watch party, at our new location:
Nocturnal Bar
2101 Lincoln (@ Grant)
Santa Monica, CA 90404
6pm-????
We had a tremendous turnout for our Iowa caucus watch party, and this time we're partnering with the local MoveOn.org chapter, so it should be outstanding. Come one come all!
I'll have a lot more for y'all tomorrow.
(NOTE: E minus-6 would be SoS Debra Bowen's term for 6 days left until the election)

Dems Endorse Prop 93, Reject DiFi Censure, Go Neutral on Compacts
[courtesy of The California Majority Report]
Meeting in Anaheim this weekend, California Democratic Party Executive Board Members endorsed Prop 93 (the term limits reform initiative) and crushed a resolution to censure U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein. The E-board also voted to take a neutral stance on the referendum to overturn the four gaming compacts signed by Gov. Schwarzenegger and ratified by the legislature.
The term limits initiative passed after some debate. A coalition of progressives who don't like term limits at all combined with others who believe that the initiative would reduce the chances of Democrats picking up more legislative seats. Ultimately, the party endorsed the resolution after CDP Chairman Art Torres and other party faithful hammered home that the initiative would make the legislature more effective.
Censuring Dianne Feinstein -- which was backed by moveon.org, the Courage Campaign, and other progressives -- failed.
Rick Jacobs of the Courage Campaign told the AP: "We will be watching to make sure she votes in ways that make sense. And if not, we'll be back," he said.
The battle over the compacts was the most expensive one. The gaming tribes phone banked e-board members, did mailings, and even sent each E-board member a DVD. Labor was split on the issue, and the neutral position ultimately prevailed.

MoveOn joins the movement to censure Sen. Feinstein
by Julia Rosen [courtesy of Calitics - Front Page]
(full-disclosure, I work for Courage Campaign. this was x-posted on Daily Kos)
The call for the California Democratic Party to censure Senator Dianne Feinstein has grown exponentially over the past few days and a huge log was just thrown on the fire. MoveOn.org just sent an email to all of their California members urging them to sign on to the call for censure over at Courage Campaign.
They are now one of 19 grassroots organizations in California who have signed on to the call since Monday. That is absolutely amazing considering how long it takes many Democratic Clubs to pass resolutions given their high barriers for endorsement.
The response by the party structure and the Senator have been well documented here by dday and hekebolos. Needless to say, we stirred up one heck of a hornet's nest and it really could not have been done without you.
Below is the email we just sent out to our list and MoveOn's email. As the email says, join the movement. Hold Senator Feinstein accountable.
