Figures for next year's budget have gone from bad to worse, with anestimated deficit of $9.8 billion dollars projected, the Sacramento Beereports. The only glimmer of hope is that both parties have at leastmade overtures toward bipartisanship —maybe we'll even be able to have an honest discussion about revenue.

Senator Jeff Denham, facing a recall effort back home after standing with the Republican right-wing on the budget thissummer, has filed a complaint alleging illegal signatures, CapitolAlert reports. Meanwhile, the state Democratic Party and Pro Tem DonPerata's political action committee are spending big to keep the ballrolling, and keep the heat on this supposedly moderate legislator.

Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney has announced district leaders in each of California's 53 Congressional district. Capitol Alert hasthe list, although nobody really knows who any of the people on itactually are.
