This Week in the Hedrick Campaign

It’s been a busy week (but aren’t they all?) for local Democracy for America chapters and the Hedrick campaign. On Tuesday, word came from the west that Democracy for America-Orange County (DFA-OC) endorsed Bill in his quest for the Democratic nomination in the 44th Congressional District. Congratulations to Bill on winning this very important endorsement! Together with the endorsement of Democracy for Riverside, this means Bill has the support of both DFA groups in the 44th Congressional District.
Wednesday night, we had a combination January Democracy for Riverside (DFR) Meeting/Coffee for Bill Hedrick at Marci and James’ house. It was well attended by both DFR members and new faces from the surrounding neighborhood. Bill discussed some of the most important issues facing our district and, indeed, all Americans: the war in Iraq, the economy, and education. Everyone left the party impressed with Bill, and several people volunteered to hold events where they could introduce their friends to Bill.
On Friday, Bill officially kicked off his campaign at The Winery in the Canyon Crest Towne Center in Riverside. There was lovely vino, courtesy of Kevin and Carolyn Craig, appetizers, and of course, the man of the hour, Bill, his wife Beth, and their five children (or is it four of the five, with the fifth in Iraq?). Over one hundred supporters were in attendance, and everyone had a fine time. Bill made a passionate announcement speech, outlining the issues he will work on to improve the lives of the residents of California’s 44th Congressional District. There were many local luminaries in attendance, including our old friends Andy Melendrez, Riverside Ward 2 Councilman and Jose Medina, RCC Board of Trustees, both of whose campaigns DFR supported. It was a splendid kickoff to what promises to be an exciting and important race. Please join us for future events as DFR does its part to bring good, sober governance to our 44th Congressional District.
And don’t forget to vote for Bill Hedrick in the DFA All-Stars competition! Every vote for Bill for DFA All-Star moves Bill and our congressional district closer to the national spotlight. Go Bill!
